Is the Ugly Sonic is Ben Schwartz?
Ben Schwartz as Sonic the Hedgehog: An anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who can run supersonic but can’t swim. He wants to use his strength to help others, but he is brazen and irresponsible. When Sonic hears that his nemesis, the Doctor, is back. When he discovers Robotnik and his quest to find the mythical Emerald Master, he decides to stop him by teaming up with his new friend Tails and growing into the hero he wants to be.
Development on the Sonic movie began in the 1990s, but didn’t leave the planning stage until 2013, when Sony Pictures acquired the rights. Fowler was hired to direct in 2016. After Sony turned the project around, Paramount Pictures acquired the project in 2017. Most of the cast was signed in August 2018, and principal photography took place in Vancouver and Vancouver Island from September to October of that year. After the negative reaction to the first trailer in 2019, Paramount delayed the film by three months in order to remake Sonic.
Jim Carrey is Doctor Ivo Robotnik aka Eggman
Sonic the Hedgehog premiered at Paramount Pictures Studios on January 25, 2020, before opening in U.S. theaters on February 14. It set the record for the biggest opening weekend for a video game film in the U.S. and Canada, taking in $320 million worldwide, making it the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2020. It’s the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time in North America, and it won’t be surpassed until 2022 by its sequel. The film was praised for its action sequences, visuals, humor, performances by Schwartz and Carrey, and fidelity to the source material, though its script and product placement drew criticism. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is due for release in 2022, while Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is scheduled for release in 2024. A spinoff miniseries starring Knuckles is in development.
The blue blur is back, and he’s not alone. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (out now, maybe on Paramount+ in a month or two), the hypersonic hedgehog joins his new ally Tails and his counterpart Knuckles in a A race for the mythical Emerald Master. But does Sonic 2 have end credits? If so, what does this mean for Sonic 3? Here’s everything you need to know.
Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna: An anthropomorphic red echidna warrior with super strength. He is serious, aggressive, and quick-tempered, but has a strong sense of honor. He is the sole survivor of the echidna tribe after they were wiped out by the owl tribe and initially works with Robotnik to retrieve the Master Emerald. However, after Robotnik dishonors their deal and betrays him, Knuckles befriends Sonic and Tails, and aids them in defeating Robotnik. Elba prepared for the role by exploring the character’s backstory and identity. Director Jeff Fowler wanted the film’s portrayal of Knuckles to be reminiscent of his early appearances, and said “his entire existence is about honor and about being a warrior”, describing him as “a force of nature”.
Idris Elba is Knuckles The Echidna
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the direct sequel to the first Sonic movie. In the first part, Dr. Robotnik, aka Eggman, is still alive, but is sent to Mushroom Planet even more angrily. We also see the arrival of Tails, aka Miles Prowler, who is here as a big Sonic fan to help in Sonic’s endeavours. Overall, this movie is better than the first part. Sonic has undergone great character development emphasizing emotion. The Tails and Knuckles characters also have different character arcs. Robotnik also played a better villain than the first part. Every time these characters are on screen, it’s objectively funny. Friendship is something that has always been emphasized in movies aimed at kids, but Sonic the Hedgehog 2 manages to build morale in a simple and heartfelt way. The ending also adds warmth. While the length of the movie seems unnecessary at around 2 hours, the overall core of the movie’s message makes up for it. Overall, there’s still a lot of work to be done, especially with Tom and Maddie’s characters, who didn’t fare well in the first installment, but the franchise is moving in the right direction.
In Sonic 3 Movie will we have Amy, Ray and Mighty fom Sonic Mania? Shadow for sure!
